Ingredients are default modifiers that can be toggled off in an item. some POS configurtaions might have modifiers as mandatory option, and in order to integrate with this setting you would have to use the ingredients feature.
In order to activate the Ingredient option you'd have to insert a value under POS Link for "Without Item" (any value would do) and enter the word you would like to be printed under the Display Name .
Serving options are as you would think, the different ways a customer can receive the product. In this section you can set in which ways can a customer order and settings of those serving options.
As stated above, you can set different serving options. Some POS systems require more integration. for any questions about creating a new serving option please contact Appfront Support at Support@appfront.ai .
The different options are:
Pickup (Take away)
Delivery
Dine-In
Catering
Drop-off
These setting do not affect the ordering process. They are only to distinguish different options. It is highly unrecommended to have more than one serving option of the same type.
Display name allows you to configure a different name for the serving option. for example you can use this for use in a different language or to display your unique brand (Fiona's deliveries).
Should a customer enter an address in order to make an order.
Checked - Address is mandatory
Unchecked - No address is needed
The delayed pickup option allows you to have deliveries for a later time.
There are 3 toggles:
Enable delayed pickup - Allow a customer to order for later that same day. if the restaurant is closed for the rest of the day (A customer wants to order after hours) they will not be able to access the menu. Prep time - how long should the customer wait for pickup. this integer will be displayed to the customer upon ordering.
Disable serving "Now" - Does not allow a customer to order for now, and instead the customer must select a specific time for ordering. If this is checked and no other options are checked the customer will not be available to order.
Future - Allows a customer to order to a later day. You must specify the days a customer can order. default is 30 days ahead. You can also set the minimum days to be greater than zero, which is very useful for catering for example, that you have to order, for example, 3 days ahead.
The time for pickup or delivery is set here.
In case of delivery, the "prep time" will be added to the "delivery time" defined in the location settings.
There are 2 ways to configure prep time for a serving option via Appfront:
Under the Serving Options tab in the New (Beta) portal.
Under Configure ⟶ Menu ⟶ Setup ⟶ Serving Options section in the Main Portal.
In the main portal, click New (Beta) on the left side of your screen. You will then be redirected to the New (Beta) portal.
In the New (Beta) portal, click on the Serving Options tab on the left side of your screen.
Click on the serving option type you'd like to adjust the prep time for (for example, Pickup).
Then, set your desired prep time under the "Prep Time" field.
That's it! you've adjusted the prep time for this serving option for all locations.
After choosing the serving option type you'd like to adjust the prep time for, you can scroll down to override the general prep time setting and configure special prep times for every location, for the serving option type you chose.

You can limit a serving option to specific time frames (ie. You only offer Dine In up to 4 pm). to do this, click on the blue "Time Frames" button, and the following screen will pop up.
The image above shows the serving option available from Monday to Friday from 10 am to 10 pm, on Saturdays from 10 am to 4 pm, and not available on Sundays.
You can add as many time frames as you like, as long as they don't collide.
No time frames means it's always available.
Delivery option is dependent on the location settings.
The "Unavailable in" allows you to disable a serving option from a specific location. this is useful if for example a specific location does not enable Dine in, but does allow pickup.
Extra service charge allows you to set an extra amount to be paid for every order in this serving option. this is usually used for packaging in catering option, but can be used for every use you'd like.
Once you tick the checkbox, you will see the following screen.
You can choose an amount (fixed amount of dollars per every order) or percentage (fixed percentage on every order).
below it you can set the value. (for example if you choose 12, and the radio button is on amount, every order with this serving option will have a $12 extra charge).
If you're using Toast POS, please consult with Appfront prior to creating a new service charge.
Size groups can be used to create different items, under a certain item. e.g. there are “small Soda” with item code 100, and “large Soda” with item code 101. You can create a menu item labeled “Soda”, and create different sizes, and send to the POS the relevant item code.
In Toast, configure a $0 item:
After publishing the menu in Toast and waiting for the sync to run, make sure to hide the category so the free item won't show on your menu:
Then, under Configure > Menu > Setup > Remark configuration - choose the $0 item in your Toast menu which we can use in order to add text special request comments to an order. (In Toast we don't have an option to add comments to an order, only to an ordered item) and Save.
Finally, on the same page, go to "Fixed Remarks". This segment allows you to add a remark for the customer to choose at the check out page.
Here's an example:
This segment allows you to add multipliers to the toppings modifiers. In order to activate this feature, you'd need to create a "Regular" multiplier and the new multiplier, For example "Double".
Name in POS - Dependent on the POS system.
Weight Multiplier - 2 for Double, 3 for Triple and so on.
Price Multiplier - Multiplies the price of the topping with the number that is entered.
Default - Choose the default multiplier.
In order to activate the Toppings option you'd have to insert a value under POS Link for all portions (any value would do).
Also, insert what you would like the ticket to say : Full portion, Left Half and Right Half under the Display Name.
